Andrew Edge

Andrew Edge is a prominent Australian bonsai artist and tutor based on the Central Coast of New South Wales. His journey began in 1995, evolving from a hobby into a lifelong obsession and the eventual founding of Edge Bonsai Studio.

With nearly three decades of experience, Andrew has travelled extensively to Japan, Vietnam, and the USA to study under international masters. This global perspective informs his expertise in traditional Japanese techniques, which he applies to a personal collection of over 100 trees. While he is highly regarded for his work with Japanese Black Pines, Junipers, and Deciduous species, he is also a passionate advocate for the development of Australian native bonsai.

As an AABC accredited tutor, Andrew is a regular fixture on the Australian bonsai circuit, frequently demonstrating at major events like the Bonsai Open and Bonsai by the Harbour. He is known for a friendly, methodical teaching style that emphasises fine ramification, the philosophy of mochikomi (the beauty of age), and technical precision in seasonal maintenance.

Through his studio and workshops, Andrew continues to mentor enthusiasts of all levels, focusing on the long-term health and aesthetic evolution of every tree.
